I have been self harming, suffered from eating disorders and from past abuse for a number of years. During this time I have been under the care of an NHS CMHT (Community Mental Health Team). Therapies I've been offered include CBT, DBT, Anxiety Managment, Depression support and Eating disorder services.

However, no-one on my NHS team will accept that I want to talk about the past abuse in order to sort it out in my own head, and have dismissed my asking for help in this area. As far as they have been made aware there IS no support for victims of abuse, and the only thing they have offered is talking about how to cope with the symptoms, i.e. self harming.

It has been reccomended by an independent private psychiatrist that I go on a residential programme, namely the Cassel Hospital in Richmond. However the NHS declare they have no such intention of reffering me, and indeed no such funds for such a thing.

Is there any way that I can a) Get referred without the help of the NHS team (indeed, would I be allowed while under the care of a team who are so dead against it,) and b) does anyone have any experience of such residential treatments and how they managed to infiltrate the NHS impregnable, fire-walled system?

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and awaiting replies with hope.
