A bit of foolishness on a winter Saturday afternoon.

The software that runs this forum allows users to automatically be assigned what are called "ranks." I just left the default titles and levels in place. They are:

Junior Member = 0 > 29 posts
Member = 30 > 99 posts
Senior Member = 100 or more postsIt's possible (and seems to be quite simple) to change the names of these "ranks," to change the levels, and to even add "ranks."

I assume that most people who register on this website have a complaint (or compliment) to make about the NHS, and aren't all that bothered about their "rank."

But I think the Junior Member "rank," in particular, is a bit insulting. So much like school . . .

Any suggestions for new names for the "ranks?" And any suggestions at which posting levels the "ranks" should change?

I know. A bit of foolishness. All suggestions and comments are welcome. I believe I can change the name of the "ranks," and if we don't like the new names, we can change back --- or change to something else.

Other forums which I participate in show the number of posts you have made in brackets after your username. Sort of tells you the same thing only more. Also reminds you you should get out more.

Yes, this forum does show the number of postings as well. And the number is automatically updated on all postings.

But then the forum software takes it a step further, and looks at your number of postings and assigns you a rank. I've just left the default titles --- so you're currently a Junior Member.

I personally find the designation Junior Member a bit like school. I'd like some help thinking of better, more "grown up" sounding ranks.

Of course, perhaps the answer is to simply disable the rank feature. But I hate to give up so quickly. :)
