Does anyone know of a "NHS GP Guide "setting exactly out what may be expected of any GP & the Practice he/she inhabits?
Typically----time per session,. topics per session, state of health review, life style/ self treatment guidance, comment on consultant's advice & when to try a new consultant, recall for review of treatment progress, recall for new treatments valid for previously "chronic"conditions", appropriate home visits. Who knows what tests/practices/medications the NHS now specially encourages or what patient groups attract most funding, as some used to. So the list goes on, sorry!
As GPs have retired and/or NHS re-invents itself, much of the answers to the above as known/normal practice may have been/ had to be abandoned. What remains? We seek treatment/health care blindly as regards expectations and that adds to stress anticipating or on the occasion of visits, when too unwell to cope with uncertainties, or apparent attitudes.
