There have been several postings here that have mentioned pain clinics --- usually with the view that they are some sort of inaccessible wonderland.
Has anyone reading this forum actually been to a pain clinic? If so, perhaps you could share your experiences --- good or bad --- here for the benefit of others. Particularly those whose GP or consultant won't refer them to a pain clinic, either for funding or for medical reasons.

I have been to a pain clinic. It is run by a nurse who offers advice, acupuncture etc.
I was given a trial of a tens machine which works very well for me. I eventually purchased it and I am glad I did. It helps when my muscles are in spasm and although it doesn't stop the pain completely it certainly makes a difference.
I was also given acupuncture which I didn't particularly like as I don't like needles and I found in my case caused a flare up of the illness. I decided for that reason not to pursue it.
I personally think pain clinics are a good idea. I have had chronic pain for a number of years and the pain can start all over the place because of the nerves. You need to settle this down so I think alternative remedies can certainly work.. it is just finding the right thing for you.:)

I tried to reply but blocked by a Web Defender--is this from the site?

Len --
In the ongoing battle against folks who want to crack into our server, post unwanted messages, or do other unpleasant things, we have recently installed dotDefender. It is designed to sniff out what are called, I think, "potential exploits," and stop them.
dotDefender has the inevitable learning curve, and will give some false error messages. If you encounter this problem again, can you please note the error number and please send it to me - either by e-mail to craig@hmdp.com or by private message via this site.
One thing I have learned is that dotDefender sometimes doesn't like the pound sign, and sometimes doesn't like two dashes together. Don't ask me why because I don't know the answer.
You were able to post your message here so it seemed to work, so you were able to reply. ?? If you could give me further details - and particularly the error reference number - I will be sure that it's fixed ASAP.
My apologies for any inconvenience.
